Glamour photography is what we are all about! And this is where we really shine. At Crystal Light Photography we pride ourselves on our ability to provide you with unique, creative, and compelling images that sets us apart from our competition. The difference is in our approach and development of the images that we create. The very concept of "glamour" covers such a large diversity of imagery; from the all-American covergirl shots popularized in glamour magazines, to the warm, sensual and teasing shots that many advertisers are using to catch their market's attention (and quite successfully I might add). There are the images that capture the fun and energetic side of our youth and beauty, and images that shape our society's definition of what sexy is. Then there are the personal images, those photographs that touch the emotions and brings alive memories of a special time and place.

The very nature of glamour photography has its unique challenges and special requirements. Unlike still life, product, travel, or even general portraiture, there is a certain level of trust and intimacy that is shared between model and photographer. On the photographer's part, It takes maturity, confidence, empathy, and a lot of communication to comfortably work with models in such a way that allows her to show her best side during a photo shoot. At Crystal Light Photography, Olga and I work together closely with the models to ensure that you are comfortable and completely at ease with whatever situation the glamour shots require. In fact, some of our models have become long-term friends as well as excellent talent which we often solicit. Finally, the basic shots that come out of a session can be used for creating unique and compelling images that are limited only by your (or our) imagination.

WE UNDERSTAND YOUR NEEDS

From a commercial business perspective, we understand your needs as well as the special attention required from the models. Image is everything, and your objective is to sell a product or service through the representation of imagery that we create. If you are a professional model, we understand that you may want to promote yourself in a number of ways. Glamour photography is often a highly successful means by which to achieve that objective. Working with someone who can take a concept and turn it into a final product that meets your expectations, is paramount. This is where it is important to align yourself with a photographer who is not only creative, but who also is skilled in effective communications, problem solving, and possesses the skills required to see a project through from concept to creation. In short, you need someone you can trust to get the job done, with crystal clarity.

At Crystal Light Photography, we work with both professional and amateur models, aspiring supermodels, and equally well with - the "just this once" models. What a joy it is to work with the talented and experienced models! But we have also had some of our best photo sessions with equally talented, yet inexperienced women who produced some amazing results.

THE MODEL PORTFOLIO SESSION

Our style in working with models varies depending on the requirements of the shoot, but there are always a few guidelines that we always observe.

Prior to any session, we clearly communicate to our models who will be participating and in what role for each shoot, the duration, and expectations from the model in terms of mood, poses, and any special considerations. We respect our models "space" and need to be treated in a completely professional manner.

If you have made the decision to pursue a glamour photography session, what are your next steps?

If you are a commercial client, you may already have in mind what kind of image you are looking for. If not, we can certainly provide our creative talents towards helping you create a concept.

If you're a model wishing to expand or begin your portfolio, you will need to decide what mood you are trying to convey and to what audience you are aiming your photographs towards. Do you want to promote yourself as a fashion runway model? Perhaps a swimsuit or lingerie model for catalogs or men's magazines? Do you have an extraordinary physical feature that you wish to leverage, such as great feet and legs for promoting shoes and hosiery? Do you have gorgeous hair? Then you would need the photographic style most often associated with the hair care industry. Do you wish to create a portfolio that shows off your versatility in more than just one of these or other areas? Whatever your need, we can provide you with results that will enable you to compete in your modeling niche.

For personal photographs, you will have some of the same decisions to make. What is the mood you are after and for whom will the photographs be displayed to? Is there a special talent that you wish to incorporate into the session, such as dance or music? You may have a love for motorcycles, cars, or water sports that could be utilized. For some women, the romance of the classic bedroom shot or burning fireplace is exactly what they dream of.

For self-promotion or personal photography, you will need to decide if you will want a professional hair stylist and make-up artist at the photo session. Many women will opt to have their hair done prior to the session at a stylist of their choosing. This is fine for most photography situations, but in instances where the shoot is to take place in a windy location, or where the model may be active, it is always a good idea to have a stylist around to touch up the loose ends. The same can be said for using a professional make-up artist. If you are uncertain as to your own skills in these areas, don't hesitate to enlist a professional's services. At Crystal Light Photography, we can make recommendations of local area professionals that can meet your specific requirements.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!

The next step in creating your perfect photograph is to determine if you want to shoot in a studio setting or on location. We love shooting on location. Sure, the studio is great for controlling the light and environment, but where we find models really shine and give their best is on location. For amateur or first time models, shooting in a place that they are familiar with or that emphasizes the mood they wish to create sets them at ease and gives them a feeling of security and control. Also by venturing forth from the confines of the studio , we can expand our interplay between model and environment a thousand-fold, taking advantage of expansive vistas or intimate surroundings that could never be accurately recreated in a studio. Lacking any suitable place, we will of course be happy to take your session into the studio. Depending on the requirements of space and equipment, we can shoot either in our comfortable home studio, or we can choose from several studio locations in the area.

TIME

The last decision to make will be the time necessary to complete your project. If you are a sole model wishing to create a simple set of photographs in a readymade location with minimal setup, then your project may only take an afternoon. If you're a commercial client that who wants to create a calendar depicting swimsuit models traveling to exotic places around the globe, well then... we could be working together for a long time! And somewhere in the middle is the typical scenario, that might require a few afternoon or morning sessions to get it just right, with both location scouting, setup, photographer and model sync, and mood all established for that perfect unforgettable photograph.
